UNO is a fun and fast-paced card game that can be played with 2–10 players. The goal is to be the first player to score 500 points, or simply to win rounds by getting rid of all your cards. Here’s how to play:
Setup
- Shuffle the deck and deal 7 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining deck face down as the draw pile.
- Turn over the top card from the draw pile to form the discard pile.
Card Types
- Number Cards (0–9): Played normally to match the top card in color or number.
- Action Cards:
- Skip (🚫): Skips the next player’s turn.
- Reverse (🔄): Reverses the direction of play.
- Draw Two (+2): Next player draws two cards and loses their turn.
- Wild Cards:
- Wild (🎨): Allows you to choose any color.
- Wild Draw Four (+4): Choose a color, and the next player draws four cards (only playable if you have no matching cards).
How To Play UNO Cards
- The player to the left of the dealer goes first.
- On your turn, you must play a card that matches the top card of the discard pile in color or number (or play a wild card).
- If you can’t play, draw one card. If it’s playable, you can play it immediately; otherwise, your turn ends.
- Play continues in a clockwise direction unless a Reverse card is played.
Calling “UNO!”
- When you have one card left, you must say “UNO!” before your turn ends.
- If another player catches you before your next turn, you must draw two cards as a penalty.
Winning a Round
- The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round.
- Points are awarded based on the cards left in other players’ hands:
- Number cards: Face value
- Action cards: 20 points
- Wild cards: 50 points
Winning the Game
- The first player to reach 500 points wins, or you can play a set number of rounds and see who has the most points.
